Can my switchboard handle an EV charger?

Sometimes yes straight away, sometimes it needs an upgrade — and often we can make it work safely with the right setup.

What we check

  • Space in the switchboard for the correct protection devices
  • Main supply capacity (and what else runs in the home)
  • Condition of the board and existing wiring

Evnex “Home Overload Protection” (load management)

Evnex smart chargers can be configured with home overload protection. In plain English: the charger can automatically turn itself down when the rest of the house is using a lot of power, helping avoid overloads and nuisance trips.

This normally involves a small power sensor installed at the switchboard during installation.
